Many struggle to figure out their “calling.” They want to know what they are “called” to do. Can you hear the word “vocation” in there?
What is God calling you to do in your life?
It’s good to ask and seek and figure out what God wants us to do with our lives. One of the problems I see though is when people are in a rut doing nothing because they aren’t certain just exactly what their ultimate plan is.
Remember what 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
Don’t get stuck doing nothing when you could be doing something for the Kingdom – even if you’re not sure it’s the ONE thing. God steers moving vessels, not ships that are tied to a pier.
There is a powerful story about the talents that Jesus shared. In the story a manager gave a talent (a unit of money) to one of his servants. The servant was so scared of losing the money and not doing the right thing with the talent that he buried it and gave it back to the master after a season. The master called this servant ‘wicked’ and ended up taking away the little he had given to someone else who was productive.
The lesson: Do something! Don’t wait for everything in life to be all perfect or totally clear. Take action, make a move, make a difference where you are today. Quit waiting for a clear voice from heaven to give you every direction on every single step. Be willing to take a step and grow and learn as you go. Let’s ask, “What action do I need to take today?” And let’s do that – today!
